The Catholic Portal

Intro to Portal Thumbnail.pngThe Catholic Portal provides access to and discovery of rare, unique, and uncommon Catholic scholarly resources via robust search and display tools. By electronically bringing together resources in many formats from many collections, the Portal enables easy, effective, and global discovery of Catholic research resources. Learn more about the Portal in this three-minute introductory video, and be sure to check out our Subject Guides for searching the Portal and our twelve primary collecting themes.

The Catholic Newspapers Program provides access to all extant Catholic newspapers in North America. The Catholic News Archive provides online access to the aggregated, full text, of nearly 32,000 pages from local and national papers (Vatican II years). The Archive presents robust search and browse capabilities, and you can also download the PDF images of pages or text. Access to hundreds of digitized and born-digital Catholic newspapers is also available via Catholic Newspapers Online. Finally, the CRRA also encourages individual and collaborative projects to digitize North American Catholic newspapers and make them readily and freely available.
